New Making, Repairs and Restorations

offer new, handmade  instruments as well as repairs and restorations on a limited case by case bases. Although I'm based in Anchorage Alaska, I also have instruments regularly in various shops across the country including Cincinnati, Portland, Seattle, Albuquerque, and Chicago. Please don't hesitate to set up a viewing appointment or simply inquire further about availability here.

My instruments are made using traditional methods and materials. I use premium eastern European maple and  spruce from the Tyrolean alps. I also make my own oil as well as spirit varnishes for new instruments and restorations. These are made using natural, organic materials from around the world.

I generally don't try to exactly copy or mimic instruments or makers although I have made exceptions. Instead I prefer to begin with established patterns and imbue them with my own sense of style and aesthetics. Using this approach allows me the freedom to remain agile, and to maximize each piece of woods potential without arbitrary constraints.
